My post-BC (just stopped taking it two weekends ago) period and spotting actually went away faster than my usual break-in-BC spotting would, so who knows what's up with my body. I'm worried all the time about my period randomly coming back until my body calms down, but I'm trying to be patient.

I'm surprised no moderator has weighed in on this yet. I am on day 17 of my Whole30. I guess you can say I've been "spotting" also. but like someone else said earlier, it's like this brown color thing. I just just had some other stuff come out when I peed, which of course freaked me out and had me run here lol. But I'm thinking maybe my uterus is healing itself and shedding old skin, materials, whatever. Who knows! It's really weird. In the past, I've done a 21 day juice cleanse, which caused my period to start earlier then usually. This is not the same, so I wonder what the difference is. I am also on nuvaring and will be taking our my ring next week, so maybe that is also why this is happening. It's just really weird.

Yep, just had the same thing happen to me - light spotting and am on day 13 of Whole30. Period not due for another couple of weeks - and cycles recently have been a lot longer (am perimenopausal I think). Had a natural therapies consultation this morning which said my hormones were a bit out of whack - interesting. Will also be interesting to see what effect this way of eating has on my cycle going forward... not on birth control.

I just oddly started spotting off normal schedule as well. My last two periods were a bit early each time. I ended my early period on the 30th and now on the 5th I'm spotting and not due for another 3 weeks... I guess just wait it out and see what happens?

I've been spotting/bleeding for 19 days now. 19 DAYS, PEOPLE! I was in with the doctor last week and am going back in on Monday morning to get results from the tests she ran. Will let you know what I hear, in case it's helpful for anyone else experiencing incessant spotting.

I am only on day 3 for the very first time and I started "spotting" yesterday, out of the blue. I am on hormone birth control and nursed my daughter until 2.5 (only stopping 3 months ago), so my periods have been wonky for awhile. The thing that concerned me is the thick, dark spotting. I have not seen anything like it and I woke up to it again. I wonder how long it will last or what the cause is. Do I just wait and see if it passes?

Hi Jami,
I feel you. I spotted through the majority of my Whole30, and am now in the re-intro phase and still spotting - total, I've spotted every day for the last 25 days. It's been brutal but it is starting to lighten up. Then again, over the past 3 weeks that this has been happening, there were several times that I thought it was clearing up. Anyway, my doctor is running another round of blood samples and should have results for me on Monday, so if there's anything I think someone can learn from this, I'll update this thread.

Given that so many women have experienced spotting and changes to their mestrual cycles as a result of hormonal imbalances from a changing diet, you could give it a few days to see if it clears - but as always, see a doctor if you have any concerns.
